Pumpkin Picking In The Perfect Fall Outfit

Is it even fall if you don't make a trip to your local pumpkin patch? Going to a pumpkin farm is one of my favorite fall traditions! Every year, my family and I go to our local pumpkin farm to experience all your basic fall activities - pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hay rides, and of course, photo-taking!

I felt like such a quintessential fall activity should be paired with an equally basic fall outfit, and what better fall combination than a blanket scarf, cozy cardigan, and riding boots?!

Dress // Cardigan // Riding Boots (similar) // Blanket Scarf c/o

T-shirt dresses have been my obsession lately, and I love all things olive green for fall, so it only made sense that I started this outfit out with the softest t-shirt dress ever! I threw this cream cardigan on over it for some extra warmth. I bought it a couple weeks ago and I've already worn it so much. I love layering it with almost anything - it really takes an outfit to the next level!

I also added another layer with my favorite fall blanket scarf (also featured in this post). It's perfect for cooler days, and makes any fall outfit look so chic and put-together. Lastly, I put on my riding boots, aka my favorite shoes for fall - they're sold out since they're from last year, but I've linked a similar pair that's under $100!

I'm so excited for Halloween tomorrow - my friend Ashley is coming over and we're going to hand out candy and make s'mores! It's going to be such a fun day, even if I'll be in a candy coma by the end of it! What are your plans for Halloween?

Fair Day Outfit | Slouchy Top & Bow Back Leggings

Do you ever have those days when you want to look cute but you really just don't feel like trying? That's me, pretty much every day. I've spent the entire school year trying to find a balance between wearing cute outfits and a Nike shorts/t-shirt combo, but I've struggled to find that one outfit that is cute, comfy, and casual all at the same time.

That is, until now. Enter these bow back leggings, AKA the most amazing leggings e v e r.

I've been wanting these leggings ever since Jadelynn Brooke released them a year or so ago, and I was beyond excited to see that the sweet girls had sent me a pair in my most recent rep package. (If you didn't know, I'm a JLB rep... read all about my rep experience here!!) I've worn them more times than I care to admit, but they're so comfy and versatile - it's safe to say I'm obsessed!

I paired them with this slouchy purple top I got a while back at a local boutique (a similar one is linked above), my go-to Aviators, a necklace I got for my birthday (also featured in this blog post) and these Adidas Superstars! My sister got them for her birthday, but she graciously let me borrow them for these outfit pictures - much love goes out to her!!

I wore this last weekend when my dad, sister, and I visited the Texas State Fair. My sister had never been, so we decided to go on the final day and it was such a fun excursion! From riding the Ferris wheel, to seeing all the crazy deep-fried concoctions (I actually ate fried cookie dough, something I never thought I would do), to seeing the adorable pig races, it was such a fun day! I hadn't been to the fair since second grade and I really enjoyed it.

It was a little cool, but the sun was still out, so this leggings/t-shirt combo was the perfect thing to wear. It was casual, but still cute and put-together, and I have a feeling this outfit will be on repeat in the weeks to come...

Did you go to the fair this year? What is your go-to casual outfit?

Currently... Vol. 3

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so excited to be sharing my next volume of "Currently" with y'all. You seemed to all really like it, and I enjoy writing it, too, so I'm glad I decided to make it a reoccurring series here.

If you're new to Live The Prep Life, welcome! Every Friday I do a fun post where I update y'all on my life. Today I'm sharing what I'm currently eating, loving, reading, etc... let's hop right in!

Eating... all the pumpkin spice things! Trader Joe's has been killing it lately. Pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin butter... the list goes on. I'm pretty sure my blood is at least 53% pumpkin spice by this point... #cantstopwontstop. Oh, and I also had my first PSL of the season the other day, too (pictured above)!

Reading... I picked up Anna Kendrick's memoir from the library, but it surprisingly wasn't that good and I honestly couldn't even finish it. I did, however, love Abby Wambach's memoir - I'm almost finished with it and her soccer journey was a really interesting story.

Watching... do I even have to say??? Grey's Anatomy for the win!

Listening... My current favorite songs are Dear World by Ecosmith, High School by Kelsea Ballerini, and Hitchhiker by Demi Lovato. As I write this, I hear Taylor Swift's new song is supposed to be released tomorrow, so I can't wait for that, too!

Wearing... all the fall sweaters! Sweater weather is finally upon us, my friends, and I couldn't be happier! I just shared this sweater in a blog post, ordered this cardigan last week, and have my eye on this cozy pullover... are we sensing a theme here??

Wanting... I want this top from SheIn (how perfect would it be with the cardigan I linked above?!), but even though I've had success from there before, I'm still kind of hesitant to order from them. I also have my eye on this top and this jacket, but I'm hesitant about pulling the trigger...

Thanks for reading - be sure to let me know what you've been loving currently in a comment below. Have a great weekend!

Ruffle Sleeve Sweater

We finally had the first real day of fall in Texas this weekend! It was so nice outside, which meant it was officially time to pull out the sweaters! It's no secret that sweater weather is my favorite time of year, and sweaters like this one are the main reason why. This light pink sweater is such a beautiful color, and the fun ruffles on the sleeves really play into this season's trends.

Sweater (almost identical) // Necklace (similar here & here) // Jeans // Boots

I wore this outfit while going to a Greek food festival near me. It takes place at a church near us every October, so my family and I always go! They have so much delicious food (I ate a ton of spanikopita & baklava) and a bunch of people singing and dancing. It's such a fun, lively event, and I love going each year. The church is gorgeous, so of course I had to take some pictures!

This sweater is sadly sold out, but I've seen so many cute similar ones lately! I've included a ton of my favorites in the widget below - happy shopping!

What fall trends have you been loving lately?

Life Lately Vol. 29

Happy Friday, friends! Today was a short week, because I had Monday off and I took the PSAT on Wednesday, so it doesn't feel like Friday to me. I'm not complaining, though, because this means I get to sleep in for the next two days! My sisters' elementary school is hosting their fall carnival this weekend, and I get to go volunteer at that which will be really fun. Their elementary school hosts so many fun events, and I love going to them because they make me feel so nostalgic!

My sister (aka my amazing photographer!) celebrated her tenth birthday last week. We went out to her favorite restaurant to celebrate, and I think it's safe to say she had a great birthday! I still remember when she was born - it makes me sad to think that she's already ten years old.

Since we had a Friday off last week, my family and I went to go tour SMU. It's such a gorgeous campus, and I really enjoyed our visit there. We got to walk around, tour the journalism building, and grab lunch at the best pizza place right off campus. I wrote an entire blog post about my day there + what I wore, so click here to read that!

While I'm thinking about it, you should definitely go follow me on Instagram! Although I haven't been posting as many pictures, (it's hard finding time to shoot outfits during the school year, hence the lack of outfit posts lately) I've been posting a ton of stories that provide insight into my daily life! 99% of them are about food... but at this point are we even really surprised?

It got cold here in Texas earlier on in the week, so I wore a sweater for the first time this season and I was over the moon! Sadly, it's back in the 90's now, but the cool temperatures gave me a little taste of fall and left me craving more!

Thanks for reading - have a great weekend!

Fall Hues At SMU

Last weekend, I went with my family to walk around the gorgeous campus of Southern Methodist University! We visited a bunch of interesting buildings on campus: the journalism building, the business building, and the fine arts center, to name a few. This was my first time visiting SMU, and it is simply beautiful! I love all of the red brick buildings and greenery everywhere - it's definitely the prettiest college campus I've ever visited.

After walking around for a few hours, we went to a little pizza place called Olivella's that was right off campus, and it was amazing - their dough and sauces are all handmade, and the pizzas taste so fresh and delicious. After that, we went to Society Bakery for dessert, and I had the best cupcake I think I've ever had. The bakery is so cute, and they have all of their beautifully frosted cakes on display. I was in a food coma by the end of the day, but if you're in the Dallas area, I definitely recommend both places.

Fall is my favorite season, but in Dallas it's just so hard to wear fall clothes due to the weather. It was around 85 degrees when we went, but there was a cool breeze, so I was able to wear jeans without getting too hot. One of my favorite ways to wear fall clothes in hot weather is to incorporate darker, more subdued colors into my wardrobe. This top from Francesca's is the best because it's short-sleeved and super thin but the color is perfect for fall, and lace-up necklines are so trendy right now. I actually stole it from my mom, haha, but it was the perfect shirt to wear!

It might not sound like the best idea to wear heeled boots while walking around a college campus all day, but these are actually really comfortable! My feet didn't hurt at all, even after walking around for five hours. I've worn them while walking through Dallas before, and they've never let me down. I also wore my one of my favorite pairs of jeans (these are my favorites but the ones I'm wearing are a close second... Francesca's never lets me down!) and some simple gold jewelry to finish off the look.

Overall, it was such a fun day - I loved getting to tour SMU and could definitely see myself going there one day. Thanks for reading!
