A Day On Worth Avenue

As many of you know, I'm currently on vacation in Palm Beach. It's been an amazing getaway (expect more posts soon!) and today, I'm sharing pictures from my favorite day yet. Yesterday, my family and I went shopping on Worth Avenue. Worth Avenue is a street full of high-end shops, and oh my goodness - it is gorgeous. I was completely smitten by the pastel shops lined up all down the street and the canopy of palm trees that towered above the stores and made everything look picture perfect. It was the perfect location to take pictures, especially since my Caroline - my youngest sister - and I both wore our Lilly Pulitzer dresses!

After doing some shopping, my family went to lunch at Nick & Johnnies. If you're ever in Palm Beach, you must stop for lunch there. Their food is delicious (I got the kale and quinoa burger and it was nothing short of incredible) but it was the atmosphere that completely blew me away. Their seats were covered in Lilly Pulitzer fabric, which was too cute, especially since the fabric was the same fabric of Caroline's dress. Naturally, I went a little photo crazy, but the opportunity was too cute to pass up.

Between lunch and shopping, I had so much fun yesterday, and I'm so thankful that I have been able to go on vacation here! You can shop our outfits by scrolling through the widget below.

Have you ever been to Palm Beach?

Life Lately Vol. 7

As you're reading this, I'm in Palm Beach right now! Make sure you're following me on Instagram (@livethepreplife) and Snapchat (livethepreplife) so you don't miss the fun! I'm going to be taking lots of fun pictures and bringing y'all along on all of my excursions, and I promise you won't want to miss anything.

Enough about that - let's talk about the last trip I went on! Two weeks ago, I took a trip to The Woodlands to celebrate my grandparents' 50th anniversary. The Woodlands is a town in Texas known for its great selection of shopping, and naturally, I had a ton of fun! After spending a couple days in The Woodlands, I went down to Houston with my grandparents to spend the week at their house. I had so much fun on this trip, and I took tons of pictures! I have a lot to show y'all, so let's go ahead and get into the most disorganized, yet most fun, volume of Life Lately yet.

On the night of my grandparents' anniversary, my family and I went out to dinner at Grimaldi's. They have the best pizza, so if you've never been to Grimaldi's, you must go.

One morning in The Woodlands, my family and I took a walk at a Koi pond. The fish were so pretty, and it was a great start to my day before we went shopping.

When I went shopping in The Woodlands, Vineyard Vines was having their Whale of A Sale, so I bought a couple things! Their selection was pretty slim, because the sale had been going on for a while, but I got two really cute t-shirts.

My grandma is an amazing cook, and this Hummingbird cake is one of my favorite things she makes. It's got pineapples and bananas in it, and it is so good.

After church, I snapped a few pictures with my grandparents!

My trip to The Woodlands was so fun! I loved getting to celebrate my grandparents' 50th anniversary, and it was great to get to spend some time with them at their house.

Now for my current vacation!

My cap is from Fraternity Collection, and you can use the code brookebutler16 for a discount on your purchase! You can also get my Lauren James shirt here (they're so comfy!) and you can get a similar suitcase to mine here.

We just got into Palm Beach yesterday afternoon, so we haven't gone to the beach or anything yet. However, the view from our hotel room is gorgeous, so I thought I'd include a picture of that. In the next few days, I'll be doing a lot of swimming and shopping, so expect to see some fun blog posts!

One final thing: last Thursday, I got my cast off just in time for my vacation! The break hasn't fully healed yet, so I still have to wear a brace, but it's a lot more comfortable and I can take it off when I'm at the beach or pool.

I hope you all have a great week!

How To Take Outfit Pictures With A Cast

A few weeks ago, I broke my wrist (read about it here), and being the blogger that I am, one of my biggest concerns was how I would photograph my outfits. I considered not publishing any outfit blog posts and not posting any photos of my outfits on Instagram, but I soon realized that there was a way to take outfit pictures with a cast and still make the photos look presentable. Since some other fashion bloggers might be going through the same struggle, I thought that I would share my tips and tricks for shooting outfits while wearing a cast!

Hide Your Cast // This is probably the most obvious tip. Since I injured my left forearm, I posed with my arm behind my back, like in the image above, so you couldn't see the cast. It does look a bit unnatural, but if I hadn't told y'all that I broke my wrist, you'd never know! I also posed where the right side of my body is facing the camera, so you can't see my left arm at all! If you hurt your leg, you could also try taking pictures that only show you from your knees up, or you could simply crop your legs out of the frame.

Wear Clothes That Match // Even on days when I wasn't taking pictures, I still tried to wear clothes that contained similar colors as my cast. It makes the cast less noticeable, and helps it look better in outfits. I didn't do this every day, but on most days I kept the blue shade of my cast in mind when picking out my outfit. For instance, when I went out to dinner a few weeks ago, I wore a Lilly Pulitzer shift that matched the my cast. The outfit still looked cute since my dress and cast were cohesive, and a few people even noticed how my outfit and cast went together! I have also been wearing this baseball cap from The Fraternity Collection a lot, since the blue stitching is the exact color of my cast. (Use my code brookebutler16 at The Fraternity Collection to get a cap just like this! They also have other caps that are perfect for summer, like this one and this one.)

Embrace It // When I hurt my wrist, it was a big event in my summer with a pretty significant impact attached to it. I try to share many aspects of my life with y'all (hence why I write posts such as Life Lately) so I see no reason why I should have to hide my cast just because it's not the most aesthetically pleasing thing in the world. If you broke a bone and feel like you have to conceal your cast, just know that you shouldn't have to hide it from the world. You don't have to show it in every single picture you take if you don't want to, but you shouldn't be afraid to display your cast in your outfit posts!

Write Other Posts // If you don't want to take outfit pictures at all with a cast on, there are plenty of other fashion-related topics that you can write about while your broken bone is recovering. You can write about your current favorite trends, share what's on your wishlist, or give out some blogging tips. Don't feel limited to solely taking pictures of your outfit! Last week, instead of doing an outfit post, I wrote a blog post featuring The Monthly Initial. Check it out here!

I hope you find these tips helpful!

Have you ever had a broken bone? If so, how did you work around the challenges you faced?

Link Love Vol. 6

This past week has been such a fun one. My family and I went to The Woodlands, a town in Texas filled with fun stores and places to shop (AKA my dream town) last weekend to celebrate my grandparents' 50th anniversary. Since then, I've been staying at my grandparents' house in Houston, and we've been doing a lot of fun things such as shopping and going out to dinner. Make sure you've added me on Snapchat at livethepreplife to keep up with all of my fun adventures!

High Tides and Good Vibes

Lately, subscription boxes have been very popular, and I'm so excited to share one of the latest subscription boxes I've discovered with y'all! I have a strong obsession with monograms (just read my May Favorites and you'll see what I mean) so I was very excited to receive The Monthly Initial subscription box in the mail. The theme for the July box was High Tides and Good Vibes, which is perfect because I am heading to Florida later this month.

Keep reading to see what was inside my box!

This monogrammed sunhat will be perfect for the beach! I actually wore it in last week's post on how to style a white top, so make sure you go check that post out. I think the color combination of navy and pink is so cute, and I know I'll get a lot of use out of the sunhat.

I also received this blue drink spiker that will be great to have for the beach, as well. If you don't know what this is, basically, you stick this in the sand and stick you water bottle or soda can in it so your drink doesn't tip over. I had been wanting one of these for my trip, and I'm so glad I have one!

Lastly, the Monthly Initial sent me a bunch of adorable stickers and monograms! While they're all cute, my favorite would have to be the one that says Good Times & Tan Lines. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with all of them yet, but I know a lot of places to put preppy stickers so I'm sure I'll find a place. I think I'm going to put the gold one on my new Lilly Pulitzer agenda!

The total value of the box was around $70, but you only have to pay $29.95 per month - it's an amazing deal! If you want to sign up for the next box, you can do so here, but there's only a few hours left to order the next box, so you better hurry!

The people at The Monthly Initial are so sweet and I love everything in my box! I highly recommend that you order one - I promise, you won't be disappointed.

2 Ways To Style A White Top

In my opinion, a simple white top is a crucial summer staple that every girl must own. It can be styled so many ways, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Today Mariam from Mars Prep and I are going to share with y'all a few ways we like to style a plain top for the summer, so I hope you enjoy!

For the first look, I paired the top with some bright pink eyelet shorts and this adorable monogram necklace! I also added a monogrammed sunhat that I received recently. It's from the Monthly Initial, a monogram subscription box company, and you can read all about it in this post! The shades of pink in the sunhat, the necklace, and the shorts all tie together to add a brighter feel to this outfit.

Top (similar) | Shorts | Scarf | Sandals | Bracelets - here and here

For this look, I layered this Lilly Pulitzer scarf over the tank top. I added some bright shorts to match, and of course, my Jack Rogers! This outfit is perfect for going out to lunch or going shopping - I actually wore it the other day while shopping with my friends, and I got a ton of compliments. The nice thing about this ensemble is that while it's really cute, it's also incredibly comfortable.

Since I love colorful, bright outfits, I feel like pairing a simple top with some colorful accessories is the perfect way to go. The simplicity of the top and the bright accent pieces balance each other out to create the perfect outfits for summer! Make sure you check out Mariam's post for some more ways to style a plain top!
