The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year in many aspects, especially photography wise. All of the pictures are so cheerful and festive; I sometimes catch myself scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram for hours on end, glancing at photographs of Christmas trees, red cups, and more. While the picture ideas are everywhere, sometimes I still find myself unsure of what to post for the Christmas season. All of the other Christmas photos out there are so cute and creative, and I want mine to be equally as good. Today, I'm sharing five ideas for taking pictures that are perfect for when you have no idea what to post!
Show Off Your Christmas OOTD // The possibilities of this one are endless! Take a picture featuring your favorite Christmas clothes, whether it be a cute graphic tee, an ugly sweater, or Christmas pajamas. Bonus points if you use a Christmas tree as your background!
Embrace the Christmas decor // Festive decor is literally everywhere during the month of December, making it the perfect thing to display on your Instagram account. You can share a picture of your decor in your house, snap a photo of a Christmas tree you come across, or take a picture of a pretty Christmas display that you see in a store!
Bake Some Cookies // The holiday season wouldn't be complete without some sweet treats, and neither should your Instagram theme! Share a picture of your cookie dough and cookie cutters perfectly arranged like you see all over Pinterest, or post a picture after your cookies have been baked and decorated! You don't have to limit yourself to cookies, either - everyone loves to see a shot of candy canes, peppermint bark, or any other festive treats.
Be Basic With A #redcup // This option is the most basic of them all, but I had to include it because I love all of Starbucks' red cups this year! They released thirteen different designs of red cups this year, and I am determined to get my hands on all of them and post a picture of each different design. (Just kidding - thirteen pictures of a red cup would get a little excessive, but two or three pictures are perfectly normal and they're a great item to add to your feed!)
Christmas Quotes // Sometimes, it can be hard to think of the perfect caption to pair with an Instagram picture. However, with the holiday season upon us, there are so many Christmas quotes or lyrics from songs that would be the perfect caption to pair with your Instagram picture. You can simply pull a lyric from your favorite Christmas song, or search "Christmas Quotes" on Pinterest. If you have beautiful handwriting, too, you can write a quote on paper and share it with the world, like in the picture above.
Now, for my favorite hashtags!
I love to hashtag my Instagram pictures so I can increase my engagement rates and more people can discover my account. Instagram hashtags are a great way to find and connect with different accounts. I usually use a mix of hashtags that pertain specifically to my picture and hashtags that are created by other bloggers. There are so many fun hashtags that bloggers have created for the holidays, so I thought I would share five of my favorites. You can use these
Overall, it's important to just have fun and be creative when taking pictures during any time of year. Photo opportunities are everywhere - you just have to keep your eyes peeled and have your camera ready at all times. Happy snapping!
