This past weekend, my family and I took a quick trip up to Ardmore, Oklahoma so we could go to Lake Murray! Ardmore is only about an hour and a half away from Dallas, so it was the perfect weekend getaway and so much fun.
We got up Saturday morning and left around 11:00. When we arrived, we went to Lake Murray and had a little picnic, then climbed up Tucker Tower - a lookout spot with a gorgeous view of the lake. The water is so blue and sparkling!
We then headed to downtown Ardmore and did a little shopping; there's a few cute boutiques on Main Street - my favorites were The Stag and Threads. I discovered these cute Free People jeweled sandals, and I really want them now - they're like dressed up Birkenstocks!
We headed to our hotel to get ready for dinner (and let's be real, watch a few episodes of Friends), then went to get pizza at Ten Star Pizza, a cute little pizza shop on Main Street. Their pizza was delicious (and so was their chocolate pie!) but my favorite thing about the restaurant was the staff. The person who seated us is from Spain, and he coaches soccer in Oklahoma. It was fun to talk to him about soccer. Our waitress was super nice, and it turns out that she actually has a blog too, so we exchanged links and Instagram handles. What a small world!
The next morning, we headed to Starbucks for a quick coffee run before going to the lake. I tried their new iced vanilla bean coconut milk latte, and it was really good.
Then, the highlight of our trip... Lake Murray! We had spent the weekend in Ardmore so we could go to the lake, because they have a great spot to rent paddle boards and kayaks, and the lake is one of the cleanest around. There's so much to do at the lake: you can jetski, sail a boat, jump on a water trampoline, kayak, paddle board, and more! My favorite thing was paddle boarding. It was exhausting, but really fun.
After a long day in the sun, we packed up and headed back to Dallas. As I write this, it's Sunday night, and I'm exhausted and sunburnt, but also very happy. It's been such a fun weekend, and I'm already looking forward to the next time we can go!
