It's that time of year again... everyone is setting goals for 2019 and reflecting on 2018, so I thought I might join in on the fun! Every year, I share a list of goals that I hope to accomplish, but this year I thought it would be fun to look back on last year's goals, too.
I had four general goals for life: stop saying "like," run 300 miles, cut back on dessert, and take a picture or video every day.
I'll be honest: I did not focus on my vocabulary or my dessert consumption whatsoever. I think that when you have too many goals, it's hard to focus on all of them. I ate a looooottt of good dessert and I'm not sorry about it #noregrets :) I did, however, run exactly 300 miles this year! It wasn't easy and I definitely had to run a lot in December to make up for all the months when I slacked, but I'm so proud of myself for completing this goal!
I also did a good job of taking a video every day. I did skip a few days here and there, but I remembered the majority of the days and I put together this video of a second a day for a year. I love how it turned out and it makes me so happy whenever I watch it.
My four blogging goals were to hit 5k on Instagram, rebrand, shoot in manual mode, and improve my video editing skills.
I rebranded back in June (see more on that here), and it was such a good decision! However, that was about it... I experienced no Instagram growth whatsoever (something I really want to focus on in 2019), I didn't learn anything about manual mode, and while I did become somewhat good at editing videos, I feel like there is still some room for improvement.
Now... onto 2018!
I thought long and hard about what I wanted my goals for 2019 to be, and honestly I couldn't come up with anything that would encompass the entire year. I did, however, come up with a few things that I want to do in the next 365 days:
- go vegan for a week
- get my driver's license (this needs to happen ASAP)
- run a 10k
- get 5's on all 3 of my ap tests this spring
- read the Bible for 365 days in a row (currently on day 146!)
These are all items on my 101 in 1001 list, and I am hoping that I can cross quite a few items off my list this year!
I also want to really focus on growth this year: last year my Instagram growth was so slow, but I am determined to really focus on both the quality and quantity of my pictures. I also want to try to be more active on Instagram throughout the year - I feel like my activity on the app comes in waves sometimes, but I want to be more consistent. I would love love love to hit 5k followers this year, but generally I want to focus less on the amount of followers I have and more on my engagement.
I also want to become a part of the YouTube Partner Program this year: I'm so close to being able to start monetizing my videos, and I have tons of fun video ideas planned for the upcoming weeks.
Lastly, I'm going to leave you with my word for this year: laughter. 2019 is going to be the year of lots of memories, time well spent with friends and family, and lots and lots of laughter. I'm so excited for all of the good things coming in the next 365 days, and I just know they're going to be filled with laughter.
One last thing: I would love it if you would take this reader survey to let me know how I can improve in 2019! Looking forward to a great year!
