Life Lately Vol. 55

School starts on Monday and that is absolutely crazy to me. I've been trying my hardest to soak in these last few days of summer before I'm piled with homework and the weather starts to cool down. It still feels unreal to me that summer has already come and gone, but it makes sense that it went by so fast when I look back at everything I did. They say time flies when you're having fun, and I feel like that was definitely the theme of this summer.

In my last life lately post, I was about to hop on a plane to Florida! It is crazy to me that this trip was over a month ago. My dad, sister, and I spent a few days in Orlando - we went to Magic Kingdom & Epcot - then a couple days in Clearwater. See my post all about it here!

My family and I spent the last week of July in Galveston! It was such a fun trip filled with good food, beach days, shopping, and more! We spent four days in Galveston and then drove to Houston to visit with my grandparents. You can check out the blog post I wrote about the trip here.

Besides traveling, I've been mainly doing two things: eating and shopping. I had a whole list of things to do before school starts, and the list went something like this: go to shake shack, go to menchie's, make ice cream, go to brunch... you get the idea. I'm proud to say I've completed almost every item on my list! We went to Shake Shack the other day and went shopping. I always split an order with my sister: mushroom burger, fries, and a cookies+cream milkshake.

Told you all I did was eat & shop :) this is the only picture I took while visiting my grandparents, and it doesn't even have either one of them in it... but Annabelle and I went shopping with my grandma and we both got a couple things for back to school!

We've been growing fresh tomatoes in our garden, so we decided to make pizza to use them all up! This is the best homemade pizza ever, and the secret? TRADER JOE'S. Bet y'all are shocked. They have the best fresh pizza dough in their refrigerated section, and add some of their pizza sauce + fresh mozzarella, then top with some fresh tomatoes and basil. Perfection.

Eleanor, Haylie, & I went to get brunch last weekend and it was so much fun! I haven't gotten to spend a ton of time with my friends this summer, so it was good to catch up + eat brunch!

99% of this post has revolved around food but are y'all even surprised? I love going to visit the historic main street area in our town, and we celebrated one of the hottest days of the summer (106 degrees!) by walking around and getting snow cones.

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day was a few weeks ago, and of course I had to celebrate! Chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorite things to make. My secrets? Add a lot of flour for a really thick cookie, use Mexican vanilla for some extra flavor, and sprinkle the tops with sea salt!

Have a great weekend!
